ACHILLEA Moonshine

Rich Magenta-Red flowers with dark green foliage. A robust grower with strong stems and uniformity. Exceptional disease resistance and heat tolerance. Will not melt in the summer heat. Excellent cut flower. Avoided by deer. Attracts butterflies.

ACONITUM Monk’s Hood – Fischerii

ALL PLANT PARTS ARE POISONUS! Shorter and more compact makes this Aconitum one of the best for container growing. Lavender-blue flowers bloom on very thick and sturdy stems that do not require staking. Dark forest green foliage with deeply dissected leaves remains attractive all season. Good cut flower. Avoided by deer.

AMSONIA Heubrechti

Tall arching stems with long narrow leaves give this plant a very delicate and graceful appearance. Terminal clusters of light blue flowers bloom late spring to early summer. Bright golden yellow foliage in the fall adds spectacular color to the garden. Slow growing but very long-lived perennial. Good cut flower.

ARUNCUS Goat’s Beard

Late to break dormancy. Prefers drier and well-drained soil. Flowers are long lasting and bloom early to mid-summer. Plants do not like to be transplanted and should be allowed to ‘naturalize’. Vibrant orange flowers are a magnet for butterflies and hummingbirds. Avoided by deer. Attractive seed pods are used in floral arrangements- grow above 65o F and dry. Good cut flower.

ASTILBE Rheinland Pure Pink

Astilbe provides a long season of blooms, with plumes opening in succession for continuous color. Plumes make excellent fresh cuts or for drying in natural bouquets. Grow best in moist soils and semi shade. Will tolerate more sun with adequate moisture. Excellent for the woodland garden. Blooms early. Clear pink plumes all season long.

ASTILBE Pumila Pinkish Purple

Astilbe provides a long season of blooms, with plumes opening in succession for continuous color. Plumes make excellent fresh cuts or for drying in natural bouquets. Grow best in moist soils and semi shade. Will tolerate more sun with adequate moisture. Late-season bloomer. More drought resistant than other Astilbe. Compact plants and erect narrow plumes are ideal for containers. Fragrant raspberry-purple flowers. Avoided by deer, attracts butterflies.

BALOON FLOWER Astra Double Lavender

Large puffy buds resembling balloons that open to bell shaped flowers. Exceptionally long bloom time during summer. Plant in well-drained soil. Large 2-3” semi-double lavender-blue flowers. Compact with excellent branching. Flowers are very long lasting. Good cut flower, avoided by deer.

BEE BALM Grand Mum

Forms Rapidly spreading clumps of mint-scented foliage. Blooms mid-summer. Deadhead for re-bloom. Forms medium sized clumps of aromatic dark green foliage. Light pink-mauve flowers are very full and resemble Mum flowers. Very disease resistant. Attracts hummingbirds and butterflies, repels deer.

BLEEDING HEART Valentine

Popular in a shade garden, Bleeding Heart prefers well-drained soil. A true bleeding heart that’s really red, these vigorous plants quickly form dense clumps of attractive plum-green foliage and dark red stems. Arching stems of dangling red heart-shaped flowers bloom in spring. Good Cut flower, attracts hummingbirds, repels deer.

CAMPANULA Freya

A hardier selection and super bloomer. Forms dense compact mounds of dark green foliage, star-shaped purple flowers bloom in terminal clusters and all along the axils of the sturdy upright stems. Excellent branching habit. Blooms earlier than other Campanula. Good cut flower, deters deer, attracts hummingbirds.

CAMPANULA Dwarf Pink

Although not as dwarf as the name implies, plants are more compact and more floriferous. Large vivid star-shaped pink flowers bloom in terminal clusters. Exceptionally long bloom time. Very low maintenance perennial Good cut flower, deters deer, attracts hummingbirds.

CIMICIFUGA Hillside Black Beauty

Large, upright perennial for late summer bloom Long bottle-brush like flowers are fragrant and form attractive seedpods. Plants prefer moist soil and semi-shade. The darkest purple-black foliage to date. Foot-long bottlebrush flowers are white with pale pink tingled stems. Attracts butterflies, deters deer.

CLEMATIS Bourbon Magenta

Stunning, vibrant red 5-6” flowers. The round shaped flowers have contrasting yellow anthers.

CLEMATIS Clair De Lune

Early large flowered cultivar. Lilac blue with a fountain-like center. 4-5” double flower. Compact, free and repeat flowering, also suitable for growing in a container or on trellises. Blooms June-September.

CLEMATIS Killian Donahue Bi-Color Pink

The early flowers open ruby red at the center of the flower, fading to brilliant fuchsia and then orchid color at the edge of each petal The flowers fade to lavender with a pink bar. Its dancing white anthers are burgundy tipped. It is an early bloomer and is a great repeat bloomer throughout the summer months.

CLEMATIS Moonfleet Lavender

Large 7” diameter, flat open deep lilac-blue flowers maturing to pale blue. Gives the appearance of a multi-colored clematis. Purple-red anthers opening to give a domed center to the flower with purple filaments fading to lilac. Blooms June thru August.

CLEMATIS Rebecca Red

Very large flowers, stunningly bright red-scarlet with creamy yellow anthers. Exceptionally free flowering. Blooms May-June and August.

CLEMATIS Silver Moon White

Very large, 6-7” silvery mauve flowers. Flowers have creamy-white anthers and the 6-8 petals overlap, making a very full flower. Blooms June, July, and August. Does well in full to partial shade.

CLEMATIS Clair De Lune

Compact, free-flowering plant. Flowers retain their color best in a shady environment. Flowers are 6-7” and have a base color of white which is suffused with pale lilac becoming darker at the edge of the eight wavy petals and stunning dark anthers. Blooms June, July and late August.

COLUMBINE Aquiligia Sunshine Yellow

Attractive clumps of delicate foliage, prefers most but well-drained soil and grow best in partial shade. Not particularly long lived. Large perennials for the back of the border, preferring moist, well-drained soil. Plants flower late summer into fall. Shortest of them all. Sturdy upright growth with large clusters of bright fuchsia flowers. Flowers are very fragrant and a magnet for butterflies. Deters deer.

FERN Athrium Ghost

Grow best in moist, shady locations with soil high in organic matter. A hybrid of Japanese Painted Fern and Lady Fern, this plant is taller and more upright. Broad apple-green fronts frosted with gray. A great highlight for the shade garden. Avoided by deer.

GENTIANA Blue Cross

Requires moist, well-drained soil. Compact plants with dense rosettes of narrow cupped foliage. Clusters of small intense blue-violet flowers bloom at the nodes. Blooms summer thru early fall. Extremely drought resistant. Attracts hummingbirds, deters deer.

HELENIUM Carnival

Spectacular color and unique flower appearance. The petals of these flowers are yellow on the top and orange-red on the bottom. The petals curl as they mature, forming a unique tubular shape and a carnival of color. Plants are robust and fast growing. Continues to bloom all summer. Deters deer, but attracts butterflies. Good cut flower.

HIBISCUS Plum Crazy Pink

Bloom mid- to late-summer and have absolutely huge, glorious crepe paper-like flowers. Grow best in full sun and moist soil. Need temperatures above 50oF before growth will appear. Dark purple maple-cut leaves and large 10” rosy-purple flowers. Flowers have dark purple veins near the edges of the petals along with a dark purple eye. Plants are a bit more compact than some of the older varieties. Deters deer, but attracts hummingbirds.

VERONICA—Blue Bomb
