Autumn Spire
Acer rubrum ‘Autumn Spire’—This broadly columnar form of red maple was introduced by the U of M in 1992, from a seed source near Grand Rapids, MN. It offers showy red male flowers in spring before leaves open, consistently beautiful red fall color, great hardiness.

Fall Fiest
Acer saccarum ‘Balista’ – Has outstanding fall foliage in orange, red, and yellow. A rapid grower forms a rounded crown, and is easy to transplant. Resistant to sun scald and frost cracks.

Korean 

Acer pseudosieboldianum – For those of us in northern climates, there is finally an alternative to Japanese maples (Acer palmatum).  A showy accent plant with palmate leaves, brilliant autumn colors and attractive bark. Prefers cool conditions and won't mind partial shade.

Northwood

Acer Rubrum ‘Northwood’ – A very cold hardy selection of Red Maple developed in Northern Minnesota. Straight trunk and strong branch angles. Good red Fall color. Medium to fast growth rate.

Scarlet Jewel
Acer rubrum ‘Bailcraig’—A full, upright Maple that turns a consistent deep crimson each fall, a full two weeks earlier than other Rubrum Maples. A brilliant show of red flowers each spring adds to the allure. Excellent symmetrical branching and resistance to frost cracking. Prefers moist, slightly acidic soil.

Royal Red
Acer platanoides ‘Royal Red’ – This showy accent tree is known for its large, glossy, bright red foliage that is retained all season long. An excellent tree with a straight trunk and broadly oval crown. This beautiful lawn or park tree provides

Ash European Mountain

Sorbus aucuparia—A medium-sized, graceful tree with showy clusters of orange-red fruits in Aug-Sept. The clear deep green foliage develops a red fall color. This upright to rounded tree needs good drainage to be long lived.

Birch Paper Clump
Betula papyrifera—The most permanent and desirable of all the white-barked Birches. Very hardy. A perfect chalk-white bark when older.

Birch River

Cherry Canada Red
Prunus virginiana ‘Shubert Select’—A beautiful tree with maroon-red foliage. New growth is green, turning red as leaves mature. Red berries in mid-summer. The fall foliage is red reddish-purple. Oval to rounded shape. A very colorful ornamental tree.

Linden American

Tillia americana——This rapid growing tree has fragrant yellow flowers and large, dense foliage that provides excellent shade. Although it will grow in dry heavier soils, it prefers deep moist soils.

Willow Weeping Salix Prairie
Salix ‘Prairie Cascade’—A very hardy cascading willow with a golden stem color that stands out in winter. The narrow glossy green foliage has excellent yellow fall color. Very useful in large areas where moisture is plentiful.
